One of the oldest provinces. Fallial boasts a higher concentration of magic-users than is typical of most other provinces. Its land lies upon a plateau in the Western Highlands that rises far above the lowlands below. Has a long tradition of allying itself with Tirial, it's neighboring province to the south.

Geography

Fallial lies in western Serendipity. It juts up against the Terrin mountains. Tirial borders it to the south, Jadenshine to the east, and Darken Vei to the north. The entirety of Fallial is made up of uplands and highlands. It receives steady, but moderate snowfall each winter. Snowmelt from the mountains ensures decent, steady crop production.

Areas of Note

Novastone

The capital city of Fallial. It sits high up in the foothills of the Terrins, looking down upon the rest of the province. It is a walled, fortress-like city.

Willow Wood

Society and Culture

Fallial doesn't do much in the way of balls or parties. It's traditional in style when one is thrown, though such parties usually only occur when a major event has occurred. (Such as the arrival of the royal family.) When an invitation to a ball comes their way, they do like to go all out just like the rest of the provinces. They try to show off, but not too much. Fallial isn't one of the wealthiest provinces in the kingdom, but they do okay. Taxes help bring in revenue and extra expenses are cut.

Fallial, and its neighbor Tirial with it, are known mostly for their distinct breed of woolly oxen—the Brown Ayr. They are easy to train, and used all throughout Serendipity for their wool. Fallial is well known for having great trainers and making wonderful items out of Brown Ayr wool. The secrets are kept within the province though.

History

Fallial was one of the first couple of provinces that was created. There is no written record of who named the province. The first place was a small town with only a few people in it. As time passed though it grew into Novastone. They were very peaceful people doing their best to make a new home. The land didn't make that easy for them though. Having stayed in what is now know in Fell for so long they had no idea how to make a run of this.

One day a man arrived and named himself leader of this town. He told anyone to challenge him if they thought differently. He started organizing the place and making it better. He had ideas and everyone was listening. His name - John Arrow.

Nobody knew where Arrow came from. He started building onto the town. First came a store and then a hotel for those travelling through. He was building his own home. The man married one of the local females after about two years of being alone. Within five years the place was prospering better. Better homes were built and the man who started making a difference had three sons.

When it came time to choose an heir the choice was easy. His oldest would inherit. The other two sons didn't care for this though. They didn't like tradition. All three boys went out hunting one day with their father. John fell from his horse and broke his neck dying instantly. The eldest boy's horse was spooked it ran toward a cliff. While trying to chase down his brother the middle son's saddle broke sending him over the edge with the horse and his older brother. The youngest was the only to survive.

Taking over had been easy. His father had lain down great expectations. Their family had lived in a modest house, which didn't sit well with the heir - Nathan. Nathan rose taxes making things harder on those around. He held banquets whenever he felt like it. He stole his wife from her father giving almost nothing in tribute along with taking the youngest daughter instead of the oldest disgracing the family. Nathan didn't care.

During his third year, the people had enough of Nathan. They deemed somebody ought to do something about this. It was then though that the Three Fold War came about. Everyone was called into action, but nothing seemed to stop their enemies. Nathan went to fight just like everyone else. When the war ended Nathan didn't return he had been killed in action.

Without a leader the town wasn't sure what to do just then. Nathan's wife, Anna, took it upon herself to continue the line. She had been pregnant with their son when Nathan had gone off to fight. Problems were arising, but nothing she couldn't handle. Nobody saw it coming though both mother and son died in childbirth. The province was again in turmoil.

There was a man who thought he could take over and make something of this province. They didn't really have much of a trade then. It was just a province struggling to make ends meet still. The land was there and the animals seemed to enjoy being there. He was about to suggest something when a riot broke out among two families about the Brown Ayr. The animals were on both Fallial and Tirial land.

Edward Aniani, the man who was about to suggest taking over, went to the leading House to seek peace for this. Nobody else was acting, and the last thing they wanted was a Royal there to dictate how this would work. Edward brought for the idea that both lands should unite more with each other both lands having the Brown Ayr. It was agreed upon and both were tight knit since that day. To seal this Edward took a Tirian to be his wife.

For generations, House Aniani reigned, until recent years when control fell to a new House for the first time in Fallian history.
