Geography

Named for its long stretches of gentle, sandy coastline. Whitesands holds the port town of Cerenis, the second largest city in all of Serendipity and traditional location of the High Lord of Whitesands' seat of governance. Whitesands contains the highest populations of Thanati and Essyrni to be found in the kingdom.

Areas of Note

Cerenis

As the second largest city in Serendipity, the ruling house focuses much of their attention here. Because of their pride, the High Lord or Lady's sacred duty is to keep Cerenis in pristine condition so all visitors to Serendipity see it as glorious. The streets are cleaned nightly and poverty is hidden in the main sections of the city and pushed to the outskirts where it is ignored all together. The heart of Cerenis is centered on the coast and the buildings sparkle with Serenian architecture and art.

Culture and Society

Trade

Whitesands main source of income comes from the sea trade. The ruling house is meticulous in its records and monitoring of all ships that come in and out of the harbor and make sure that all goods are delivered, intact, across Serendipity. Cerenis is also the main hub for all Serenian exports.

Security

The ruling house house has many bannerman throughout Whitesands, many of which are positioned to protect the shoreline from pirates and others wanting to bring illegal goods into Serendipity. The High Lord or Lady presides over all trials that affect Whitesands and make the executive decisions of what crimes should be reported directly to the crown. The ruling house keeps a close watch on its citizens and visitors, asking all visiting Serendipity to register upon arrival. This registry is a record of everything and everyone who even touches the shoreline. A copy of the registry is sent to the palace every week.

The Registry

Contains meticulous information on visiting people, all imports and exports, as well as monetary information regarding every piece of trade. It is reviewed by the High Lord or Lady of Whitesands weekly before being sent to the palace.

Style and Dress

Citizens of Whitesands (especially near the coast) wear a mix of Serenian, Essyrni, and Thanati styles. Some choose to wear their own culture’s dress, but most have no issue mixing and matching to create new styles all their own. Women, still, traditionally wear dresses and men pants regardless of foreign styles.
