Sulak found his mind wandering as he waited, eyes drifting out of focus until the sudden sounds of stumbling feet caught his attention. The boy lifted his head sharply in surprise, eyes widening and a soft gasp escaping him to be caught being idle by any stranger at all. He studied the boy who could only be a few years his senior, tilting his head for the clumsy flailing that had caught his eye. He seemed awkward and more than a little nervous.
They'd stopped in front of his home, their home. Realization struck him and he suddenly looked quite stunned as he scrambled to his feet to be out of their way. He was surprised that they actually seemed to have two guests, a fact his mentor had neglected to tell him.
He opened his mouth to say something but then realized he probably shouldn't assume anything about these new, yet quite stunning strangers with light hair and hurried to open the door and go back inside ahead of them.
"Tarj!" he called as he stumbled back inside, wincing at the slight puddle forming at his feet. His mentor lifted his head and chuckled at the sight of the boy but sobered considerably once he noticed that Sulak had not called his attention to himself but to the people just beyond him.
Turning away from the table and crossing the room he set his hand to the door to open it more fully to welcome them inside. He swept light, strawberry blond hair from his face where it had fallen forward as he offered the pair a warm and welcoming smile. "Sulak you're supposed to welcome guests, you know, not leave them out in the rain," he teased lightly, reaching out to guide the boy further inside so that the entry was free for their guests to enter. Sulak just nodded, allowing himself to be guided by the older man as he stared curiously at the boy with white hair.
"Siris," he greeted warmly, blue eyes twinkling as he studied the taller man. Dropping into a smooth bow Tarj gave Sulak a gentle nudge to follow his lead. The boy grunted in surprise, distracted but quickly dropping into the familiar gesture of respectful greeting. He felt a little awkward, though, not knowing who this Siris was, and so waited to follow Tarj's example. He rose at last once his mentor did.
