OOC: FORGIVE ME FOR MY LATENESS shan't happen again any time soon i hope..
IC:
The city will fall.
Well, that wasn't surprising news. Sansi grunted in reply. She knew very well what as stake. If they had to 'cleave through the front line,' as Sinead said, then so be it.
"I am with you," she said, quietly.
The raiders approached in a deafening roar. Sansi, who had been as still as a rock, sprang to life. Sansi twirled and slashed, springing to life as she fought the enemy. Her long hair whipped out behind her, a blur of white as she sliced a man's throat, red blood tainting the cloth on her clothes. She paid no attention to her friends, not now. She moved with skill and grace, the rhythm of battle another to dance to. Sansi smiled as a man's blade got stuck on her shield. She pushed him backwards and moved on, leaving the helpless man to the mercy of those who came behind her. The shield maiden continued to push her way through the ranks by the side of the Saints.
Her eyes shone with blood lust as steel clashed against steel. These raiders fought well; it was clear that they had seen battle many times before.
No more, Sansi thought as she ran her sword through under the man's arm. Suddenlly, she heard the wails of men and turned her attention towards a giant of a man who was missing an ear. He was brandishing a morning star with one hand and wielded a sword with another. He knocked down soldiers who tried to brake the distance. those that successed only were brutally run through. Sansi grimaced as she watched a man she barely knew, but knew none the less, fall by his hand. The brude turned towards Sinead, but Sansi let out a sharp whistle, drawing his attention towards her. Sansi smirked.
This one's mine, she thought, charging for him.
Shivers ran down her spine as he swung, his arm powerful.
He's fast.
Sansi bolted out of the morning star, but then she quickly blocked the man's blade with hers, its point inches away from her face. He wickledly smiled as he watched her effort. Sansi tried again to break through his defenses, but he blocked her attack and retaliated, swinging the weapon towards her. Sansi had no choice but to use her shield. As it clashed against it, Sansi found herself being thrown backwards, something cracking. She cried out as she rolled towards him, slashing viciously at his calves. It was enough for the man to hesitate as he tried to deliever a death blow. It was enough: in one swift movement, Sansi stabbed him through the chest.
"What's your name?" she hissed between labored breath.
He made a face, but did not resist her question.
"Esfen."
"Die well," Sansi solemnly said.
May Aiden have mercy...
Sansi examined her left arm. It hung limp at her side. She didn't feel it now, though she had difficulty moving it freely.
No doubt I'll feel it soon.
Suddenlly, a blast of fire bursted through the ranks.
"Mages!" the elf shouted, her eyes scanning the field. Three stood in the back in black cloaks, their voices drowned out by the cries of the dying as they raised their hands towards the heavens.
