For the lovely Goblin King. <3 (And maybe Zozee? Dunno, we'll see.)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The life of a Shadow Ranger could be very exciting. There were missions to go on, taking you across the entire world, adventures that children could only dream up in their wildest fantasies. There were people to hunt, kill, and bring to justice. You met some of the most interesting people all across the globe. However, you always came back to the Clockwork City when the work was done, so long as you survived, of course.
Right now the life wasn't all that exciting. Mission complete and time to head home. Maybe she should have been more pleased about that. Who knew how long she'd be stuck in the Clockwork City this time, though. Patrols were important, but she liked being out in the world. Like right now, for instance, they were in a forest, and the trees were beautiful.
So beautiful that she was hiding up in the branches of one, blending into the shadows as she peered down at her victim. Shadow Ranger Kenneth was sitting with his back to the trunk of the large tree, looking over a map. Usually she was excited about any mission, but when she got to go on a mission with Kenneth it was that much better! They had trained together as fledglings, and she rather liked the goofy klutz.
She had plucked an acorn from the tree and carefully aiming, dropped it, watching with glittering sapphire eyes as it fell, landing with a soft 'thunk' on Kenneth's head. Tesha had to cover her mouth with a hand to hold back her giggles. Maybe this was childish behavior, but where was the fun in growing up if you couldn't act a little childish now and then? Of course she'd been doing this for a good half an hour, with probably a half dozen acorns having been dropped on her poor friend, who was getting more and more flustered with each little nut that hit him.
