The land here was so very far and different from home. Rosie looked upon it sternly as if a mere look would force it into obedience and submission to her will. Her heart longed for the mountains and plains beyond them that she had called home much of her life. It seemed strange now to stand in the country in which she was born and yet feel like ever the stranger in it. Nothing here was familiar or soothing. The craggy coastline broke off to the unyielding cold of ocean waves where home opened up upon warm grasslands as if the mountains she grew up in were a secret door to treasure rather than a broken shelf where the world suddenly ended.

The property she had been instructed to revitalize and maintain was certainly not helping matters either. An old country farmstead left to rot and ruin while the now well off baron made his fortune and living in town sat sadly but determinedly as if waiting desperately for a family to return and call it home. Rosie was less than impressed to say the least. But, the barn was in relatively good condition. There would need to be some repairs yet but several stalls were in working enough order once mucked out to allow for the first of her charges to be housed. The house itself on the other hand seemed one sneeze away from collapsing. She had not even bothered attempting to enter and examine it. The barn would do for now.

With a heavy sigh she began to amble along, examining the fencing that separated the homestead from that of the neighboring farm. She had not met the man yet although her employer had spoken favorably of him. As far as she was concerned if he kept to his business and allowed her to keep to hers she would take no issue with him. Rosie was here to do a job and she had every intention of completing it to her fullest ability so that she could leave and return...well maybe not. But, at least she could leave this place.

"HO THERE!!"
A booming voice carried easily in the calm afternoon air, seeking the attention of the newcomer. From the homestead on the other side of the fence, the owner of the voice strode forward with one arm raised in a vigorous wave. He was a towering mass of a man, dressed for physical work (that had clearly already imparted smears of dirt and such all over him) in rugged boots, simple pants, and a shirt with a plunging neckline due to half the buttons being undone, his brightly smiling face framed by a wild mane of long red-orange hair that he had once again forgotten to tame into a braid. His long legs made short work of the distance, stopping just on the other side of the fence so he could rest his fists on his hips and smile down at Rosie from close range.

"Good afternoon, neighbor! Welcome to the coast! Name's Rheinallt, live just yonder so if you ever need anything just give a holler! It's great to finally meet you - you've had the whole town a-titter since we heard this place was finally getting used again. Nothing bad, mind - spicy rumors are usually my fault! - but you know how it is, anything new is exciting and everyone's gotta talk about it."

Speak of the forbidden and he shall appear in the blink of an eye. Rosie stared in displeasure as her walk was interrupted by said neighbor barreling up like a bull to pasture, bellowing and bleating at her all proud, tall, and mighty.

The man spoke far too quickly for her to discern entirely what he was saying although she was also making no effort even to actually try. Although born in this country she had grown up far from it and as such long since fallen out of using the Serenian tongue in favor of the several Adelan dialects or tongues of those her people traded with. There was no use for the northerners in her adopted homeland.

She stared in dispassionate silence as if in doing so would make the man simply go away. Sadly it was to no avail.

"Not buying," she declared in the trader's tongue, holding up her hand as if to stop him from his non-existent attempts of soliciting while also continuing with her assessing walk along their shared boundary line.
