After some looking around and some discussion in the cbox, I've decided to try SotE!
Here's what I wrote as a note to myself:

I'm very happy that the user avatar is a representation of the player, rather than a requirement that the avatar represent a character in a one-account-per-character style system.
I'm very happy with what seems to be an open and collaborative setting.
I'm very happy that badges are not taken too seriously. hehe.
