Olivia nodded her head enthusiastically to the offer. "Dinner sounds good," she agreed. The chance to catch up with Primrose sounded nice. She might finally get the opportunity the gossip like a real girl. She loved being a tomboy, but she never got to talk about guys she was interested in without being made fun of right away.
She held out the piece of armor she'd been working on, and explained as best she could what she was doing to make it fit. "Well, I used a light and sturdy steel so it wouldn't weight him down. This is the front. I'll use a strip of leather over the top to make them into one flexible piece. And after measuring him and watching him fly, I decided to give him a lot of room under and around his wing, and then I'll use a small string of leather to tie the bottom corners together so it doesn't flap around wildly. Unfortunately, that means he'll have a weak spot under his wing, but it's better than having his entire body exposed."
Olivia hopped off again towards the back room to retrieve the back portion of the armor. They were both molded well, specifically to the shape of Grimshaw's body, with an empty portion in the metal around the joint of the wing. They weren't connected by a leather strap or string, yet, but the edges were almost completely rounded off and smooth so that no bit of the metal could rub uncomfortably or scratch the bird. The pieces of metal were easily the smallest pieces of armor Olivia had ever seen, let alone worked on.
"Isn't it awesome? I hope Vaun likes my work. I mean, I don't care what he thinks of me personally, but of the shop, and our quality of work. Hopefully he'll spread the word to other people, you know?" Olivia frowned in exasperation. She was pissed on one hand, but Vaun actually seemed like a good guy, handsome, rugged. He was confident, which she liked. But he was conceded, and too attractive, and she couldn't stand the way he disapproved of treating her like an equal, instead of another girl he was trying to woo. She wanted to like him, but in general she didn't really trust him as a man she could get close to on an intimate level. He was one of those guys you had to keep as a friend in order to get the good side of him. At least, that's the impression she got.
"I'll have to tell you what happened over dinner. After you share with me what's going on first, of course," she told Prim, feeling clever with her I'll tell you if you tell me trick.
