By the time everyone was finished eating, Erthe wondered if maybe he had eaten too much after all. The food had been too good to regret even a single bite, though. Judging by his master's distaste for him, he doubted such meals would be in his future. Still, one had to enjoy the small moments of pleasure when they came. It could be years - or even decades - between such pleasant events for the drow.
When he was asked to follow the lady to her study, the slave was quick to obey, knowing that the business at hand would finally be addressed. That thought made him a bit nervous. How bad was the reaction going to be? The young lady seemed kind and gentle enough, but bad news could bring out the worst in people.
Sitting carefully in the chair indicated, Erthe couldn't help but feel out of place yet again. Someone like him didn't belong in a fancy study in a big house like this. As time ticked on, with her silently reading, the drow couldn't help but fidget slightly. Maybe it was comical that such a large man could be so intimidated by such a tiny woman, but he was.
The boy brought them tea and sweets, but all Erthe could do was stare quietly down at his hands, flinching at the sound of the door slamming as Janus made his way out. Unable to bear the silence any longer her cleared his throat and spoke in his typical soft, deep tone. "I'm sorry, lady, but your uncle says I am to bring you to him safely."
