Things were always different for Cleara Verdad in merchant cities, and Selevea was no exception. The good thing of their renown allowed then to pass through sides of the city with little trouble. Here the people were all after money and ruled by avarice. Here Verdad had two objectives, preach and offer relief to the town guard by patrolling the inside of the city and keeping watch for thieves and pick pockets. This was not a place that they were actively recruiting, but it still happened on occasion. Sinead had spent the majority of the day in the public market, both preaching and patrolling. The attention paid to the preachers in Selevea was heartbreakingly low compared to almost any other township. But they did what they could, and the city guard was grateful for it. Opening up the Barracks to the mass of the religious group, it was definitely an easier way to stay in a massive city.

Sinead was currently in a small tavern and inn on the Featherfall side of the city, being the leader of the religious group, he was afforded to always stay in a tavern or inn as an added measure of safety for the Book of fate. However, he liked to stay with his devout followers for the most part. He also hated this city more than anyone, it wasn't a secure place and It was filled with the malice and evil of the corrupted hearts of those who lived here. It was rare that he would sleep more than an hour or two at a time while they stayed.

But today he wanted to relax and unwind with his fellow saints, once they were released of patrol they were to meet at the tavern for some drinks, an unspoken tradition among the saints as  to share drinks one night every week, and tonight was that night. However Rinata nd Samuel were on night patrol duty, so if they did show up it would be much later.

Sansi sat on one end of a round table, glaring at her opponent in the eye. He was a stout and balding pale man with a pug nose. He was a soldier that travelled with the saints. He smirked at the shield maiden.
"You spend too much time in temples.  You sure you can handle these spirits, m'lady?"
They all called her "lady," "lady knight," or "saint," never "love" or "lass." The last person who tried got 'put in their place' as it were.
Sansi huffed.
"Perhaps for every drink you should go to the temple so your mind will expand with your  belly. Then perhaps you would learn not to challenge me to a duel," she replied, her voice soft but  her tone piercing. The men around her hooted and laughed.

"Out of my way, out of my way!" a bar maid shouted over the noise. On a tray she carried ten pints of dark ale. Five were handed to the soldier, the other five to Sansi. Indulging in drink perhaps was not the most pious of activities, but Sansi believed in relating with the people that followed Aiden's creed.
"Please be prepared to bring more," Sansi informed the girl. The bar maid nodded eagerly.
"Yes, m'lady!"

Now for a referee...

On a night like this, Segari always doubled his rounds, did one more sweep, took things extra slow, checked in with every soldier, did everything he possibly he could to avoid drink night. It was a regular routine among the saints that sadly the largest of them was not in favor of. Unfortunately though two of the Saints had already snagged the later patrols and thereby forced him into needing to show his face in a manner of speaking.

As stealthily as a nearly seven foot tall man could, the man slunk into the tavern hoping to keep to the shadows and away from his companions revery. What he had not taken into account though was how the door slammed behind him and how close the round table that Sansi sat at was to said door.

Wide-eyed, Segari tried to steer himself in the other direction before she tried to invite him to another drinking game. The last thing he needed was the mother of all hangovers courtesy of a little lady with a mean right hook.

Sinead was quick to join the table where the drinking game was about to begin. He waved down a bar maid and, with the help of another barmaid, fifteen more pints were brought over. "Mind if I join you? I could always go for some Darkwater Ale. But how about we raise the stakes? Person who drinks the least has to pay for all the drinks on the table, and a round or three for the bar." This got a nice cheer from the now growing group of spectators, "and if you dear sir, are the winner. I will let you in on a little secret about us Saints and the nature of the religion." The soldier nodded. All men who know the ways of the world love secrets. It's the only form of currency that is both worthless and immeasurably valuable. And a smart man would acquire as many secrets as possible. However it was impossible for this man to win. Sansi could hold her liquor like no other women before her, and the Guilded Armor each of them wore cleansed their blood with its magic. This man would have to drink himself to death in order to win. The stakes of this bet was actually a subtle message to Sansi, tonight he was planning to share some knew knowledge that the book revealed to him.

The slamming of the tavern door drew Sinead's eyes, "Ah, Segari! Brilliant timing. Come referee for us."

Winters-Feather

Sansi arched a brow pointedly at Sinead.
"A foolish offer," she gently scolded him when she learned of the prize. It was impossible for him, of course.
"Our mission is to say so, with or without such games."
Her eyes followed Sinead's as a giant man entered the inn. She graciously gave the barmaids her thanks as the beer was placed on the table before nodding in approval at Sinead's choice of a judge.

"Yes, please do join us, friend," the elf called out to Sergari.

The deepest of scowls made Segari's displeasure known to any who cared to look at him. He lumbered as slowly as he possibly could over to the drinking table, wincing at finally reaching it. Snatching up one of the drinks for the game, he downed it quickly, belching as he reached for the next. If he downed them fast enough then he would not have to judge and he could forget the entire night altogether.
