Playlist: Warning May Contain Explicit or Mature Lyrics and Themes __________________IN-DEPTH STUFFPhysical DescriptionMalakai’s preferred form is that of a tall, slender man with short purple hair kept out of his face by an orange bandana. His lashes, brows, and chin scruff are also the same color purple. His skin is a pale olive with a smattering of freckles across his cheeks and shoulders. He has navy blue eyes that lack pupils and appear to have white streaks and “stars” in them like a galaxy. This is the mark of his blindness and not naturally occurring.
He also has two eyebrow piercings in his left brow, a pair of earlobe hoop earrings, and a labret piercing below his bottom lip. On his right cheekbone Malakai also has a small sort of stylized “v” symbol in black ink. As far as clothing, Malakai isn’t truly particular about any of it save for his bandana. He does have a preference for nicer materials but comfort and ease of wearing are the names of the game.
PersonalityMalakai is a bright, charming, and quick-thinking individual. He lives his life dishonestly and preying upon the belief that no one would suspect a blind man or cute critter of committing a crime, let alone a theft. He is resourceful, flexible, and enthusiastic in the things he puts his mind to.
However, he is also a restless soul and has a tendency at times to judge things too quickly. More than once he has gotten himself into a spot of trouble because he leapt without considering where he would land. He works best under pressure though and will often put things off until seemingly the last minute. Malakai is the type to make an art out of improvisation.
He dislikes being alone, often finding it at times overwhelming in the same way that others might feel claustrophobic in a large crowd. He is very people-oriented and well-spoken with excellent people skills. Malakai could charm a mink right out of its coat if given enough time and credit.
Things
- He is completely blind from an incident when he was very young. Malakai has no memories of being sighted but has very strange and vivid dreams of shapes and shadows and sometimes even colors although he doesn’t know what they are.
- Favorite color is orange despite never remembering having seen it. It is a common recurring color in his shape-shifting, not that he knows or sees this.
- He doesn’t actually know what his true form looks like or if his preferred one even is his true appearance. When asked he can only say that it is the skin he feels most comfortable in just like a few of his other popular forms.
- Some of his popular forms include:
~A slender woman with a long mane of orange hair, elven features, and slightly pointed ears.
~A tiny, fluffy, white kitten with large eyes.

Magic/AbilitiesShape-shifter: Malakai possesses the ability to change his form into any non-magical organic lifeforms. He can impersonate people, become animals, or even mesh bits of other creatures together to form some ungodly being. Size, shape, or species are not problems for him to imitate. He can even become a creature that he has never encountered before based solely on someone’s description of it. He cannot become a dragon, unicorn, griffon, or other such creature. All attempts have been a failure and left him incredibly sick for having tried.
HOWEVER, Malakai has some pretty big limitations on his abilities. Because he is blind, he makes the best imitations or shifts after extensive touching and feeling of the person or animal he wishes to become. Once he has perfected a form then, he will always be able to shift into it although it may take a few attempts the longer he has gone without assuming a particular form.
Figurines and descriptions are very helpful in becoming something but as he is blind his greatest challenge is getting the coloring right. Even with proper guidance, Malakai has a tendency to botch colors and lean towards more translucent and/or orange markings for his animal forms. He does do a bit better with human skin color but hair and eyes are the same exact challenge as with animals. Additionally, even descriptions can go wrong. For example, if someone described what an octopus was without Malakai ever interacting with one he likely would turn into some form of orange eldritch monster with far too many human limbs and all in the wrong places.
He does lose his clothes and belongings when he shifts forms either by them slipping off him or being torn when he grows too large for them. As such he is naked when he returns to a humanoid form and either has to find his stash, carry it around with him always, or seek assistance from others (all extremely difficult feats as a blind pickpocket in Zantaric!) The exception to this are any piercings and tattoos he has. Things embedded in his body remain regardless of form and markings will show in each form he takes.

HistoryAn orphan with no knowledge of his past, his family, or how he was injured, Malakai grew up predominantly on the streets from a young age. There were people that would help him along the way but he learned very quickly that the world is a dog-eat-dog world out there and blind or not he wasn’t going to be winning his scraps by waiting for someone to get them for him. He takes pride in his self-sufficiency and independence and trusts very few people. They are an avenue to success and a life of comfort and rarely little more.
