Lazy Days [Fae!!!]

Summervale is known for a few things. Its white sandy beaches, its beautiful blue sea, its stunning seaside cliffs. Scipio loved to come to Summervale whenever he got time off, which with his current year was sixteen days out of the month. Not that he had ever used all sixteen, being a runner was his life. But with the recent djinn event, he had started using more and more. Twice he had almost died that day. Twice he realized he should take better care of himself. Twice he ignored that reasoning. He would die when The Lord saw fit to take him.

Presently, Scipio was in the runner's house sleeping in of all things, basically just being lazy. It was rare that Scipio did anything lazily, sixteen years hard pressed as a runner taught him the sloth was a deadly sin, the price often being a comrade.

Half past noon Scipio finally left the bed. Greeting the housekeeper with a good morning and getting a good afternoon in return. He rubbed the sleep from his eyes for the third time and went to the small kitchen to set about making an omelet, and perhaps another for the housekeeper.

Salty sea air cooled her flushed face as the blue sleeve raced barefoot over the wet sand, a grin lighting up her whole face. Margot had risen before the sun has warmed the beach and taken off on quick feet to enjoy a long run followed by a brilliant sunrise.

It felt incredible to be able to just enjoy the morning, no expectations and no rush. The runner did recognize the irony of starting her day with a run just like every other but in turn she loved that for once there was no agenda, no endpoint, no need to stop or go a certain way if she did not wish to. She could just simply be.

Every heartbeat was a soothing drum. Every breath was a wave of peace. The seaside cliffs and white sands of Summervale were certainly not home to Margot, but that did not stop them from bringing her a feeling of contentment. She would always be restless and have a need to be on her feet. It was why she became a runner after all. But, the beach was more than enough to satisfy her need for movement and adventure while on vacation.

Making a right at the next bend, she headed back for the House. Hunger had set in and she figured she could grab a quick bite before heading back out again. Not a second of outdoors and sea air was about to be wasted in the week she had to enjoy it.

Sandy feet were brushed off quickly while she hopped inside, headed for the kitchen. It amused her to find one of her fellow blue-sleeves looking like he had just rolled out of bed. Sidling up behind him, Margot grabbed a fork and scooped up some of the still hot and just cooked eggs, popping the food into her mouth.

"Mmm, how ever did you know? Thank you dearest," she jested, moving to lean against the counter beside Scipio instead of against his back.

Scipio had set aside his omelet and set about making another for the housekeeper. He was almost done, adding a bit of oregano and cayenne pepper, a dash of salt, and just a hint of his secret spice, when his omelet was pilfered.

Not a big deal, "but of course, protein after a nice long run right?" He flipped the one he was making onto a plate and turned to face the food thief. "Hyoite, summer before last, group of us went to the hot springs, you were a red sleeve then, want to say your name is Margot. Talking in fragmented sentences is weird, I should stop." Scipio smiled at his own jest as he began to eat the omelet on his plate, intent on saving at least half for the housekeeper. "So first off, congratulations on becoming a blue sleeve, a Red Cloak games will be coming up soon, I look forward to competing with you. So what brings you to Summervale?"

"Mmm," Margot replied, although she was not quite sure it was in response to her fellow blue-sleeve or to the fact that she was consuming the best tasting eggs she had had in a long time. She took a few more bites, smacking her lips as she took her plate to the table and slid into a chair, eyes closed in contentment.

They reopened though with a sigh as emerald eyes danced with silent laughter. "Well then first off thank you for your congratulations. As for the games, I would not look forward to it if I were you. Unless of course you are hoping to be a bystander in my dust," the runner quipped with a twinkle in her eye. "I have every intention of slaughtering any and all contenders."

Margot finished the last of her eggs and had already begun to eye Scipio's with growing interest as she continued to converse with him. "As for Summervale, I come for the cliffs." A manic gleam seemed to light up her eyes as she said that, that should her companion have been paying attention might have noticed and found cause for worry.

"There's nothing quite like plunging off an enormous height to plunge to whatever lies below. Ah but enough about me. What brings the great djinn out of his magic lamp? Or wait," the woman smirked playfully, "should I say the djinn survivor away from his latest escape? Are you going to finish that," Margot interrupted herself, leaning across the table, fork already en route to stealing a bite. She grew up with brothers after all, anything was fair game if one did not bother protecting it.

Scipio sat across from Margot, a wide smile spreading across his face as she told her plan for the Games. "Oh then by all means, challenge accepted." He tore into his omelet as she spoke of her particular brand of pleasure. "Cliff diving eh? I know of some pretty good spots on the coast." As she asked him if he were going to finish his food, he looked down at his plate, well aware that he had just finished the last of the omelet. "Finish what?" He smirk with faux concern.

"Oh for shame, Scipio! Not saving a single bite for a poor starving lady? Tut tut, thought your mama would have taught you better than that." Margot shook her head while standing and taking her plate over to the wash basin to be taken care.

A quick but thorough scrubbing later and it was placed on the rack to dry. "For that I now have to give you a sound whooping," she state matter-of-factually. "I'm sorry, I didn't want to have to. But, you've last me no choice." Yet, it was quite plain that the female runner felt none of the remorse that her words implied.

"I'm sorry," she shook her head before looking over at him mischievously, "sort of."

"Sorry. Nope. I don't remember much about her or her teachings. She died when I was very young." Scipio had long come to terms with his mother's death, and because of that it was a lot easier to talk about. He wasn't looking for sympathy nor would he accept any. His life was running now. His family were the members of the Society. He followed in suit in washing his plate.

"So you wanted to go cliff diving eh?"

Margot shrugged, wiping her hands on the back of her pants. "Enormously large chance of braining myself on the way down into a violently swirling pool of water with sharp, pointy rocks for impaling at the bottom, yeah why not? You coming?"

The thrill of life and near-death experiences was what the runner lived for, even on vacation. As sarcastic as she sounded, she really was excited to go cliff-diving and saw no problem with any of the dangers she had just mentioned. If her poor mother knew though, Margot knew she would never hear the end of it.
