Lord Fairchild cleared his throat while raising a brow at his wife to take the lead. She smiled sweetly at Conrey, her hands wringing tightly in her lap having felt the scrutiny of his gaze upon her and it doing nothing to settle her nerves.
"It was good of you to join us Mister Shaw. We have heard good things about you and hope that you will be a good match for our little girl." The woman smiled fondly as she mentioned her daughter before continuing, still struggling to meet the man's gaze. "You see our precious child, our only child, our little girl is in great danger. Her condition leaves her quite delicate and we only want what is best for her. She must be protected. In the past we have had some disappointing individuals to guard her though based on your reputation we hope that will not be the case this time." With a look only a mother could give, Lady Fairchild challenged Conrey to defy her.
"Should this interview conclude favorably," Lord Fairchild interceded quickly, "then it will be your duty first to oversee the transport of our daughter to a secluded location where you will act as guardian and protector to her. It is the hope of my wife and I that a change of scenery will do her some good and help her recover from her ailment."
"Provided of course that this is all acceptable to you Mister Shaw, do you have any questions? We ask the utmost discretion on your part of course," Lady Fairchild stated evenly.
